THIS IS THE TEAM WE ARE!!!

Well this past Saturday was opening day at Trailway Speedway. We were all eager to show up and get this hopeful championship season started. My guys had everything ready to go for both our Xtreme Auto and Audio sponsored 600cc micro and the latest addition the Forry Motorsports/National Guard 1000cc micro dedicated to the troops.

Sidewinder heat race…which by the way, the sidewinder in warm-ups was INTENSE…WOW. Anyway, the heat race also had us starting 4th. I was able to get myself up to 2nd behind a very fast Sean Seifert. We had one issue and that was our left side wing panel had given up and folded over mid-race. It stayed on. Once again the crew jumped on that and got it repaired.

Next up was the 1000cc Sidewinder feature. Starting second helps my confidence a lot. I went out with one goal and that was to win for the first time with this car, the car owners and the first time in the class. I was able to beat Rohan Beasley (one of the class originators) out of turn two and was able to keep the lead. During the following laps the wing panel decided to give way yet again. The car got tight and became a challenge for me to keep it on the bottom of the race track. That’s were the fast approaching Jason Morrison and Sean Seifert were coming. I had a mindset and it was all about victory…victory for my team, owners, family, soldiers and my father. I wasn’t going to give up. I’m very happy to say that I was able to defend my spot and take my first ever micro sprint victory!!!

I paid tribute to my father on the race track in turn 1 where he always stood. I had to then gather up my emotions and finally take our team to victory lane where……well…..we cleared the grandstands. Why? …cause they all were with me! My family is very large and have been waiting for this day as I have. I did my interview and tried to keep my composure. That was not easy. Heather Forry (car owner) then congratulated me and handed me the phone to which had Srgt. Jason Forry currently serving in Iraq on the other end cheering!!!

Now that feels good. Kind of story book….but it really happened that way.

I’m on cloud nine this week and I thank everyone who made it possible.

God Bless America and I’m off to get ready for the next race!
